Summary

One of two cottages sub-divided from a seventeenth century farmhouse, altered in the nineteenth century. Walls of flint and brick banding. Tiled roof with stone eaves courses and coped gables.

Full Description

Marsh, now a farm, which has a large ancient brick house probably built by the Woolfreys, its former owners, who were in possession in the time of Hen VIII. This estate and farm was sold in 1658 to the Savage family from whom it eventually passed to the Drax estates. <1>

(SY 873972) Marsh Farmhouse of two storeys with walls of banded flint and brick, was built towards the end of the 17th century. Nearly all the original windows and doorways have been either blocked or reduced in size during the 19th century, the west wall of the west wing was rebuilt. <3>
