Full Description

A late bronze age socketed axehead was found in 1951 at about ST 73950265. It is 103mm long with three parallel ribs on each side of the blade and is patinated and partly broken. Now in the possession of Mr Horsington of New Barn. <1>

'A late Bronze Age socketed axehead, now in the possession of Mr. Horsington of New Barn (now Nettlecombe Tout Farm), was found recently in newly broken up pasture near the summit of the ridge called Bowdens, at about nat. grid ref. ST(31)/73950265. The axehead, green patinated and partly broken, is 103 mm long, and has three parallel ribs on each side of the blade.'
