Full Description
Encombe is a fine 18th century house with traces of the Vanbrugh-Hawksmoor style and of Palladianism, built throughout in the finest Purbeck ashlar. <3>
The property was bought by the Pitt family in 1734, and the house as it is now was completed by about 1770. The Stables and Garden Temple to the south-west are early 19th century but follow closely the 18th century style.
