Summary

Watermill built by Ben Barlow, Mill Wright of Southampton, in 1754. There is a stone with the inscription "Ben Barlow Mill Wright of Southampton fecit 1754". The building itself may be of earlier origin. Now 2 houses (ie MDO16636 and MDO16806), "Millstones" comprising the ground and first floor of the original machinery area. It has Purbeck Stone walls and roof and is of two storeys with attics. The wheel was overshot, circa 12 feet diameter and 4 feet wide.
