Summary

A bridge over the Corfe River built in the late eighteenth bridge and widened in matching style in the twentieth century. Rubble stone structure with rebuilt brick parapets with shaped stone copings.

'(6) St. Edward's Bridge, over Corfe River (430 yds. N.N.W.), is of one span. It was built late in the 18th century, of Purbeck stone ashlar; the parapets have been rebuilt in modern brick. In Hutchins' time the bridge here was dated 1564. The single semicircular arch has rusticated voussoirs and is flanked by plain strip-pilasters; a stone plat-band at road level returns round the pilasters.'
