Summary

A small detached cottage thought to have been built in the 18th century. The building has roughcast cob walls and a thatched roof with a brick chimney stack. In 1975 it was reported that the surviving original features included a large open fireplace, partly reconstructed, with a bread oven.

Full Description

SU 08310870 and SU 08400862. Two late-18th or early 19th century cottages with cob walls and thatched roofs. The western cottage is single storied with attic and the other is of 2 stories. <1>

‘Unless otherwise described, the following cottages are single-storeyed with attics and have cob walls, thatched roofs and class-S plans. They date from late in the 18th to about the middle of the 19th century. … Church Hill (25) Cottage (08310870), of two storeys.’
