Listed Building record MDO16008 - Parish church of St John the Evangelist, Hinton Martell

Church dated early fourteenth century and situated north east end of the village. It incorporates reset features from an older building but rebuilt in 1869

The church in 1868 was a small edifice about to be taken down. It consisted of a nave, chancel, North aisle, South porch and West tower. It seems to have been Early-English with later additions. <1>

St John's was rebulit in 1870 by GR Crickmay and is a simple pl,an of nave, chancel and West tower. <4>

St John's is the parish church of Hinton Martell. The fabric was mainly built on old lines in the 19th century, incorporating old material and detail. Font 13th century. <5>
