Full Description
Substantial red brick villa, circa 1800. Main front (No 82) 5 windows wide, plus 2 to slightly recessed north wing. Bricks of facade are all headers, except for dark red voussoirs of gauged brick. Glazing bars intact in sash windows. Doorway with fluted pilasters and pediment, with fielded panels to jambs of recessed door, which itself has fielded panels (2 now glazed) under rectangular fanlight. Hipped tiled roof, recessed behind parapet on north wing. North end abuts road with 2 hipped gables and high chimney, red brick with some grey stretchers, 2 inserted timber entrances (Nos 78 and 80). West side of No 78 has segment-headed windows (new entrance below), projecting single-storey stable (now garage) has rounded end. Rear of main house has narrow gable flanked by 2 high brick chimneys. South gable tile-hung, projecting from it lower 2-storey south wing (No 84): smaller bricks, probably earlier, but much modernised (eg tile-on-edge lintels, stringcourse and tympanum over door).
