Full Description
Picturesque mansion, tile-hanging and half-timber, dated on foundation stone 31 May 1883. Entrance at short west end: moulded brick arch under wooden canopy on brackets under part of projecting hipped-roofed gable, with large dormer corbelled out on decorated plaster projection. Incised plaster coving to dormer and eaves. Polygonal bay with open loggia at 2nd floor level (bulgy Gothic balusters), surmounted by spire, set across south-west corner. Long south front to garden: canted bay with 2nd floor loggia under half-timbered gable with foliage frieze, then loggia to garden entrance and canted bay to ground floor, with 1st floor balcony over, then another canted bay under half-timbered gable. East and north side with service rooms (one corbelled oriel with incised coved cornice). Roofs of tile with ornamental ridges. Chimneystacks with vertical ribs, projecting cornices and some original pots.
