Full Description
Listed by RCHM as a mound, roughly rectangular with rounded angles, 96ft long and 56ft wide.
A rectilinear mound, 23m by 14m, is visible as low earthworks on aerial photographs <8> to the east of Ashley Chase Dairy. It has previously been described as a doubtful long barrow or conjoined round barrows, orientated NNE-SSW.
(SY 56688823) "Long Barrow? Impossible to say by mere inspection - no signs of ditches - shape tends towards rectangular". <2>
A doubtful long barrow; it may be conjoined round barrows, orientated NNE-SSW. Length 100 ft, width 60ft, height 3ft. <3>
Listed by RCHM as a mound, roughly rectangular with rounded angles, 96ft long and 56ft wide. <4>
A ditchless grass covered and rather rectangular mound, 30.0m long, 17.0m wide and with an average height of 0.6m. The mound is flat on top, and it is situated on a S facing slope. Mole casts in the top of the mound show it to be composed of a dark sandy soil.
There is no reason to suppose it may be an example of conjoined round barrows, for there is no visible definition of two barrows, either in plan or elevation. For a long barrow the NNE-SSW orientation is unusual; other features could have been destroyed if the barrow had been excavated. The feature is a doubtful barrow. <5>
It has no significant higher end and appears to have been partly levelled for a building platform. <6>
