Summary

One of seven Bronze Age bowl barrows clustered around a bank barrow and a long barrow. In 1952 this monument was reported as being around 27 feet in diameter with a mound about 2½ feet high, with a ditch around it.

Full Description

A bowl barrow with a ditch. Diameter 9 paces, height 2 ft. <2>

A grass covered bowl barrow, 9.0m in diameter and 0.6m high, with a surrounding ditch 1.5m wide and 0.2m deep. <4>

A Bronze Age bowl barrow on Long Barrow Hill. The site is one of a group of monuments in the vicinity of the Long Bredy bank barrow (MDO1509) and is clearly visible on aerial photographs. <7-9>

‘(8) BANK BARROW, LONG BARROW and BOWL BARROWS on Long Barrow Hill ¼ to ½ m. N. of the church (575 ft.-612 ft. above O.D.). … The remaining barrows are seven in number … (c), 60 yards S.W. of the end of the bank barrow, is 27 ft. in diam., 2½ ft. high and has a slight ditch.’
