Summary

The base of a churchyard cross, probably built in the late 14th or early 15th century. The cross consists of an octagonal stone base into which is set the bottom part of a stone shaft, all sitting on a square foundation. It measures 33 inches square and 16 inches deep.

Full Description

South-east of the church is the 14th/15th century octagonal to square base of a churchyard cross. It is 33 inches square by 16 inches deep, set with the remains of a square shaft broken off almost at the base. <2> <3>

The socket stone is square at the base but the chamfered top corners give the upper part an octagonal section. Photograph. <4>
