Monument record MDO1456 - Iron Age or Roman field system, Scancombe Coppice, Litton Cheney

A narrow but long strip of IA/RB fields is visible on AP CPE/UK/2431/3151-53. This system falls on the N. and W. facing slopes of the valley which surrounds HAYDON DOWN. The system consists of small irregular fields, the lynchets of which average 6.0m wide and 0.4m high, and the field banks are of similar width and height. The system is completely grass covered. <2>

Fragments of a banked field system of probable Iron Age or Roman origin are visible as low earthworks on aerial photographs. <3-5>
