Listed Building record MDO14551 - Anchor Farmhouse, Trent

A farmhouse built in the seventeenth century, much repaired in the late nineteenth century. The building has walls of rubble stone, covered with render, and coursed dressed stone. The roofs are clay tile with stone gable copings and brick chimney stacks. The house is on a U-shaped plan with two ranges at the rear with a small yard between. Nineteenth-century additions include a porch with octagonal stone columns.

‘The following monuments, unless otherwise described, are of the 17th century and of two storeys; the walls are of rubble and the roofs are thatched or covered with modern materials. Some of the buildings have exposed ceiling-beams and original fireplaces. … (30) Anchor Farm, house ½ m. N.N.W. of the church, has a stone with the date 1617 and another indicating repairs or rebuildings in the eighties of the last century.’
