‘The following monuments, unless otherwise described, are of the 17th century and of two storeys; the walls are of rubble and the roofs are thatched or covered with modern materials. Some of the buildings have exposed ceiling-beams and original fireplaces. … (25) Down Farm, house on the S. side of the road nearly ¾ m. E. of the church, has a panel in the W. wall with the initials and date T. and A.S. 1699 H.S.’
