Full Description

Gorwell Farm is a 17th century two storey rubble built house which has been largely rebuilt except for one wing with original stone mullioned windows and fireplaces. The barn, S of the house, was built probably early in the 18th century and is of six bays. <2>

Gorwell Farm is the name of the building (a). The house was unoccupied at the time of field investigation. The N wing contains 17th century work. The N face of the wing has two 2-light stone mullioned windows on the upper storey and one of 3-lights on the lower storey. At the E end of this wing there is a blocked 2-light window in the upper storey. The rest of the building appears to be comparatively modern, with the exception of the entrance porch on the E front. The archway of this appears to be a modern replacement in 17th century style, but
the lower parts of the jambs are perhaps original. <3>
