Full Description

In 1428 Margaret Frampton held half a fee in Buckland. The seat of this branch of the family stood near the church and was 'burnt in AD 1655. <1>

Major Buckley, a past owner, consideres that a small portion of the south wing, at the south-west corner, is all that remains of the pre-1655 house which extended to the west. To substantiate this, he found an older wall in the interior and foundations to the west of the present building which is post 1688. Known as Manor House.

The present building bears no exterior features of a pre 1688 construction. Access to the interiors could not be gained to inspect the older wall referred to. No information was obtained regarding a manor house. <3>
