Summary

A system of strip lynchets and field boundaries visible as earthworks on aerial photographs to the north and east of Old Warren. Uncertain prehistoric or medieval origin.

Full Description

Four areas of grass covered medieval type strip lynchets, parallel and regularly spaced, centred at- 'A' - SY 588884, 'B' - SY 59388865, 'C' - SY 59028820, 'D' - SY 59558815.
They are clearly visible on air photographs RAF CPE/UK/1824 3302 and 4283. <1>

Strip lynchets occur north, west and east of Little Bredy Farm, indicating the former extent of the open fields of Little Bredy. In addition to the four areas described by Authy 1 above, a further two are shown on the RCHM plan (see illust.) centred at - 'E' - SY 595008878. 'F' - SY 59638837. <2>

A system of strip lynchets and field boundaries is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs to the north and east of Old Warren. The features are of uncertain prehistoric or medieval origin. Medieval cultivation ridges appear to overlie some of the earthwork features. The site was digitally plotted during theSouth Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project. <3-4>
