Full Description

Bowl barrow, 46ft diameter and 5ft high. <1-2>

SY 60478783. Bowl barrow, diameter 14.0m. by 12.5m., height 2.0m. Both barrows lie in arable but have not been ploughed; neither shows any visible evidence of a ditch. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on MSD. <4>

A Bronze Age bowl barrow with an outer ditch, recorded by the RCHM <1> as an extant earthwork measuring 14 metres in diameter and 1.5 metres high. It lies in arable but has not been ploughed, and there is no evidence of a ditch. It is also visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs <6> and was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.

Barrow within a newly ploughed field but the mound is covered with established grasses and scrub. The mound has been steepened by basal ploughing, particularly on E. Dimensions as RCHM. 1/3/C
