Monument record MDO1393 - Bowl barrow on Black Down, Littlebredy

A Bronze Age bowl barrow with an outer ditch, recorded by the RCHM as an extant earthwork. It is also visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs

Bowl barrow, 46ft diameter and 5ft high. <1-2>

SY 60478783. Bowl barrow, diameter 14.0m. by 12.5m., height 2.0m. Both barrows lie in arable but have not been ploughed; neither shows any visible evidence of a ditch. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on MSD. <4>

A Bronze Age bowl barrow with an outer ditch, recorded by the RCHM <1> as an extant earthwork measuring 14 metres in diameter and 1.5 metres high. It lies in arable but has not been ploughed, and there is no evidence of a ditch. It is also visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs <6> and was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.

Barrow within a newly ploughed field but the mound is covered with established grasses and scrub. The mound has been steepened by basal ploughing, particularly on E. Dimensions as RCHM. 1/3/C
