Crown Brewery, Fontmell Magna was founded in 1780 by the Flowers Family and later acquired by A and T Sibeth. Brewing ceased on 14th December 1904 and was sold with 21 public houses for £25,410. The public houses were sold piecemeal to local brewers including Hall and Woodhouse Ltd, Baxter and Sons and Marston's Dolphin Brewery Ltd. The brewery buildings are still extant and were built in 1876, with additional work of 1891.After 1904 the brewery was used as a pottery. It is a typical example of a small brewery with defining elements of a tower, louvre ventilation, ornamental ironwork, hoist cover and water tank. <2-3>
