Listed Building record MDO13846 - Dairy Cottage, 7 North Street, Fontmell Magna

A farmhouse built in the seventeenth century and altered and extended in later periods. The building has rubble and brick walls and a thatched roof. The record for this monument has been enhanced with support from Wessex Water.

MAYO'S FARM (86611721), house, has rubble walls with brick dressings and a thatched roof; it is of early 17th-century origin and was formerly single-storeyed, Probably in the 18th century the range was extended southwards by one bay, and it was heightened to two storeys in brickwork in the 19th century. <2>

Probably in the 18th century the range was extended southwards by one bay, and it was heightened to two storeys in brickwork in the 19th century. The S. room of the original building has a four-panel ceiling formed by deeply chamfered beams which intersect at a shaped boss.
