Listed Building record MDO13831 - Meadow Cottage, Fontmell Magna

A house built in the seventeenth century, partly refaced in the nineteenth century. The ground floor of the building has walls of coursed rubble, with brick in English bond above at the front and render at the back; this back wall is said to be wattle and daub. The half-hipped roof is thatch with a brick chimney stack. Features of the interior are reported to include an open fireplace with chamfered bressummer, and chamfered ceiling beams and wall plates, and collar-beam trusses in the roof. One beam is inscribed ‘Charles Hunt 1842’, likely to be the data when it was encased.The building was previously divided into two cottages.
