Full Description
Site of a Bronze Age bowl barrow on the ridge to the south of Black Down. The barrow is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. {1}
One of 11, bowl barrow, 97ft. in diam and 9ft. high (RCHM).

‘(9) Barrows, forming a group of eleven, are ½ to ¾ m. N. of the church. … (h) bowl barrow, 120 yards S.E. of (b), is 97 ft. in diam. and 9 ft. high.’

30.0m in diameter and 2.20m high and no longer ploughed. A ditch, visible as a soilmark in 1954, is no longer visible. The barrow has been protected from further damage by the provision of marker posts around the barrow approx. 2.0m from the perimeter of the mound. This provision has resulted in a square unploughed zone in a field which was ploughed and sown with grass when visited. 1/3/B
