Monument record MDO1370 - Winterbourne Poor Lot: bell barrow

Bronze Age bell barrow forming part of the Winterbourne Poor Lot Barrow Group. The site is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs. {1}

As above but the ditch is only visible as a dip in the fence line both N and S of the mound. The berm has been ploughed at the edges, and less towards the fence line making the mound oval particularly on the W side where it has reduced to 1.0m wide. The mound has been fenced off on the W and E sides but these fences have been knocked down in several places and fresh erosion by cattle is visible. The berm is wider on the E side of the N-S fence line which is a parish boundary. on both E and W the fields were under grass but are regularly ploughed. 1/2/C
