Full Description

(ST 93831091) "Crossways', a thatch roofed house of two storeys with walls partly of brickwork and flint, partly rendered and perhaps partly of cob.

The north end of the east range retains two pairs of crucks and is probably of 16th century origin. In the 17th century a bay was added on the south with a large open fireplace, now blocked.
The range was extended further to the south in the 18th century. At the same time a fireplace was inserted in the original part of the building, a service wing was built on the west and the east front was remodelled and made nearly symmetrical. <1>
