Building record MDO13085 - Royal Lion Hotel, Broad Street, Lyme Regis

A house built in the sixteenth century with seventeenth-century additions and later remodelled and heightened. The three-storey building has walls of rubble. Inside the building, one room has 16th-century moulded ceiling-beams and a muntin and plank partition.

‘The following monuments, unless otherwise described, are of the 17th century and of two storeys; the walls are of rubble and the roofs are of modern tiles or slates. Some of the buildings have exposed ceiling-beams and original fireplaces. … (24) Royal Lion Hotel, on the N. side of Broad Street, 210 yards S.W. of the parish church, is of three storeys. It incorporates work of the 16th and 17th centuries but has been remodelled and heightened. Inside the building, one room has 16th-century moulded ceiling-beams and a muntin and plank partition.’
