Full Description

Bowl barrow, diameter 13 paces, height 1ft. <2>

A mound, possibly the remains of a barrow. <3>

A grass covered, ditchless, but very spread bowl barrow. Diameter 16.0m, height 0.3m. <4>

SY 5778790. Kingston Russell 15.. Bowl barrow listed, details as Authy 2. <5>

Bowl barrow with a mound 15m in diameter up to 0.5m in height and composed of eart and chalk. Surrounded by a ditch from which material was quarried during construction of the mound. Ditch is no longer visible but will survive as a buried feature circa 2m wide. The barrow was first recorded in 1959 and is situated 75m to the north west of the Kingston Russell stone circle, with which it is intervisible. <7>

Not a barrow but probably a Late Bronze Age cremation cemetery. The cremations were covered by platforms of flints similar to those in pond-barrows.

The probable site of a Bronze Age bowl barrow is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs and was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project. <8>
