Summary

A kiln shown on the 1st epoch 1:25 inch scale Ordnance Survey map, on which it is described as 'Limekiln'. It is also shown on the 1901 and 1927 Ordnance Survey maps, where it is described as as ‘old limekiln’. It is identified as ‘pit’ on the 2006 Ordnance Survey map. This kiln is lined with stone instead of the of the usual header bonded bricks. It was visited in 1992-3 by Peter Stanier and found to be in fair condition with some 80-90% still surviving.
