Full Description

No.101 South Street is a two-storeyed colour-washed brick house on a stone plinth. It is one of a piecemeal terrace of late 18th and early 19th century houses (Nos. 99-117 South Street), which forms a good example of a 'terrace' formed by cumulative addition of workers' housing, perhaps of out-workers' housing. <1>

Terrace. Late 18th or early 19th century fronts, but in the main, many years older. Red brick. Nos 115 & 117 (Manchester Place) stone. Old slate roofs. 2 storeys and attics. Some brick modillion eaves cornices. Attic dormers. No 109 has small bowed shop window. Some casements with lead glazing bars in rear. <4>
