Full Description
Part of a planned terrace of eleven three-storeyed houses (24-44 King Street) with a classical façade and regular repeating fenestration pattern, of probable early 19th century date. The façade is built of good-quality brickwork on an ashlar plinth, each house having a single bay front with gauged brick voussoirs to the door and window openings. There is a three-centred arched carriage entrance at the north end of the terrace and an ashlar tablet inscribed 'Prospect Place'. The rear elevation is of rubble stone. It has a gabled slate roof. The terrace has small rear yards, suggesting that the houses were built principally for workers engaged in employment outside the home. It is a very good example of factory-workers' housing in Bridport. <1>
