Full Description

Mid 18th century house of two storeys and with an elaborate five-bay façade that emulates a country house in minature (1). The walls are red brick in header bond with ashlar dressings and slate roofs. The street front has a stone plinth and rusticated quoins. It is of five bays, with the central three projecting slightly and topped by a pedimental gable. There is a circular window in the tympanum with a moulded surround and four keystones. The entrance doorway has a semicircular head and is flanked by fluted and reeded Ionic columns supporting a pedimented modillion-cornice. Above in centre of first floor is a Venetian window in an Ionic frame on console-brackets. Five ranges of sash windows in eared architraves with triple keystones. There is a panelled parapet-wall butting against the sides of the pediment. A plain single bay extension of the front lies to the right, probably of the same build, which contains a carriage-way with rooms over. (1)

The interior has contemporary joinery and good marble fireplaces. (1)
