Full Description
Early 19th century house, built as a terrace with No. 55 East Street to the east. It is of three storeys and cellars with brick walls and slate roof. The doorway has panelled door with moulded acanthus ornament and semi-circular fanlight set in reveals also with moulded acanthus ornamenthas a round head. Sash windows. A balcony with cast iron balustrade at first floor level, a string at second-floor level and a cornce and parapet. <1>
Founded as a Liberal Club by Henry Warburton, MP, in 1835. Colour washed brick. Stone cornice and moulded string. 3 storeys and basement. 4 ranges of sashes with glazing bars. Continuous balcony with cast iron balustrade supported on brackets. No 53 has panelled door with moulded acanthus ornament and semi-circular fanlight set in reveals also with moulded acanthus ornament. <4>
