A bowl barrow with a hollow in the centre. Diameter 14 paces, height 3ft. <2-4>
A grass covered bowl barrow; diameter 14.0m., height 1.5m., with unsurveyable traces of a surrounding ditch. The barrow has been dug into on top.
The barrow was sectioned in 1965 by G Rybot. A small flint cairn was capped by soil, probably to a height of 6-7 feet. No ditch was found. Three Kg of pottery from six newels were recovered showing the barrow to the Middle Bronze Age, and included the Westernmost known Tyre Iia globular Deverel-Rimbury urn. <5>
Grinsell recorded this barrow as 14 paces in diameter and 3 feet in height, with a hollow in the centre. <6>
Enclosed small flint cairn (disturbed) sherds of at least 5 Deverel-Rimbury urns and of one collared urn (possibly in soil gathered for mound which had no quarry ditch) at least one urn contained cremated bones. <7>
A Bronze Age bowl barrow lying inside Eggardon Hillfort. The barrow is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs. <8>
