Full Description
Part of a planned Georgian development instigated by Samuel and William Downe, who laid out the street in 1792-1795. Nos. 3-13 (odd) Downes Street is a terrace of three-storey red brick houses, erected piecemeal but in a matching style woth stone plinths and a matching band at second floor height. The entrances are grouped in pairs with 6-panelled doors and semicircular fanlights. The windows are sashes with concealed sash boxes. There are very small yards behind (1)
