SY 63309482. Romano-British and Medieval pottery was found in the garden at No.3 Dorchester Road, Frampton. Quite a few sherds of the C12th and C13th were uncovered. The recognisable sherds of RB pottery were Samian and New Forest Ware possibly of the C1st or C2nd to C4th. The house site cuts into the substantial scarp of a lynchet, of which there are several more to the west. Whether they belonged to "Celtic" fields or to medieval or later strips was not determined. <1>

‘Romano-British and Medieval pottery from Frampton. Several years ago the writer examined the garden at no. 3 Dorchester Road, Frampton (SY 63309482), where ancient pottery had been reported by the owner, Mr. E. Waring. In addition to quite a few medieval sherds probably of the 12th and 13th centuries, there was a quantity of Romano-British pottery, much of it very small and worn. Besides some coarse black ware, including pieces with acute-angled lattice decoration probably to be dated before c. 250, recognizable wares ranged from the 1st or 2nd to the 4th century; viz. samian (1); creamy flagon ware (1); a fine black burnished rim, probably from a 1st or 2nd century imitation samian form (1); red slip-coated ware of New Forest type (4); metallic-lustred New Forest type (17).

The house is levelled back into the substantial scarp of a field lynchet, of which there are several more, to the west, following the curve of a northerly re-entrant. The writer did not have the opportunity of examining them, and, from the evidence of aerial photographs of the national 1 : 10,000 cover alone, would not venture to assign them positively either to ‘Celtic’ fields or to medieval or later strips.’
