Full Description

(SY 6392). Ninety yards east of the Enclosure (SY 69 SW 43) is a barrow about 50ft in diameter and 4.5ft high. It has been much disturbed in the centre. <1>

SY 63229261. An approximate circular mound with a diameter of 15.5 metres and 1.5 metres high in the West. Grass covered and ditchless, it is situated below the crest of a hill.

A central hollow would appear to be the result of excavation, but little pits at the foot in the north, its general irregular shape andthe size and quantity of stones exposed in the sides, in an area where there appears to be no shortage of soil, makes it appear more likely to be a dump of material for the track which skirts it in the East or perhaps a field clearing dump. A doubtful barrow. <2>

SY 63219261. A low, circular mound, 18.0m in diameter and 0.8m in height, just below the crest of a ridge. In appearance and position it is less likely to be a barrow than a dump as suggested by authority (2). Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <3>

Site of a possible Bronze Age bowl barrow visible as an low earthwork on aerial photographs, located 250m north of Hampton Plantation. Its slightly irregular shape, however, makes it appear more likely to be a dump of material for the track which skirts it to the east or perhaps a field clearing dump. <4>
