‘Romano-British finds at Spyway, Askerswell. Mr. W. Butcher has recovered Romano-British potsherds and a quantity of earthenware tile fragments, mostly roofing but including some flue-tile, from the centre of a ploughed field at SY 629936. The two datable sherds are of the 3rd or 4th century: a rim of a flanged dish or bowl of Collingwood’s form 30, and a rim of a wall-sided mortarium of red ware probably originally colour-washed in imitation of Samian.’
