Summary

Barn, C15 now truncated and much altered internally. C15 core, (walls and roof). Coursed dressed stone walls. 4 buttresses with moulded plinths and diagonal corner-buttresses. North east angle of the truncated structure possesses the jamb of a former entrance arch. Bay 2 (from the south) has a 4-centred doorhead with straight- chamfered jambs. Plank stable-doors. Full Description

The house is of 17thc. origin, but much altered in the 18thc. The barn; W. of the house is now of four bays, with stone buttresses. At the NE angle is the jambs of a former gateway, at right angles to the main building. The barn is of 17thc. origin. <2>

The house and buildings are still called CHARITY FARM. <3>

The house is of stone, with modern windows and a slate roof. The house is in good condition but shows little external evidence of antiquity.
The barn, 75.0m. W of the house is of stone with a slate roof, and is as described in T.1. <4>
