Summary

A deteached cottage thought to have been built in the eighteenth century. The building has walls of rubble stone and a thatched roof, with an exposed jointed-cruck truss on the east gable wall.

‘The following monuments, unless otherwise described, are of the 17th century and of two storeys; the walls are of local rubble and the roofs are thatched or covered with modern materials. Some of the buildings have exposed ceiling-beams and original fireplaces. … (24) Range of five cottages on the N. side of the road, 30 yards N.E. of (23), is of L-shaped plan. The middle cottage of the W. wing seems to date from early in the 16th century and has moulded ceiling-beams and a fireplace with moulded jambs and corbelled projecting head; there is also a panelled screen of the same date. The other cottages date from the 17th or 18th century.’
