Full Description

Higher Farm is a two storeyed stone house with a slated roof, mainly 17th century but with a later west block. The east front retains its original stone-mullioned windows, the lower range having moulded labels. There is also a stone-mullioned window in the added block.

Inside the building is a reset fireplace with a four-centred head and the initials and date 'IB, PB 1628' To the south of the house is a small 17th century barn. <2>

Higher Farm (name confirmed by owner) is now used as a private residence and not as a farm. The description given by Authority 2 is correct, except that the barn, which is of stone with a timbered and thatched roof, lies immediately north of the house, not south as stated. <3>
