Summary

A house built in the late eighteenth century, now Barclays Bank. The building has walls of burnt grey brick with red brick dressings. A striking feature of the exterior is the doorway, and the original rain-waterheads and downpipes are still in place. Thomas Hardy used this building as the house of the Mayor of Casterbridge, and a blue plaque on the building celebrates this.
