Summary

A bowl barrow crossed by the parish boundary between Dewlish and Cheselbourne. Visible as a rise in the hedgerow, but elsewhere much reduced and spread by ploughing.

Full Description

A - SY 76839959 B - SY 76839963 Two bowl barrows partly under the plough and partly under grass. No ditches. 'A': Diam 16.0m. Height 0.6m and crossed by a modern hedge and ditch in the west. <2>

'A' - SY 76839959. Bowl barrow, diameter 12.0m. Height 0.2m. Both barrows are ploughed down; neither has a visible ditch. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <4>

‘Visible as a faint swelling in a field in established grass when visited. Its W extremity is crossed by a hedge aligned N-S which is the parish boundary with Cheselbourne. Nothing visible in the field W of the hedge which was newly ploughed at the time of the visit. Severely reduced and spread by ploughing the barrow is almost ploughed out.’
