Description

‘Oct. 2. … “This same day came … certain commissioners with the broad seal (?) of England to dig in a hill at Upway near Dorchester for some treasure that lies hidden underground, but having spent three days about it, they went away having found there nothing but a few bones, saying they meant to dig at Bincombe and under that pretence went away”.’
