Description

Watching brief during excavation of trench for construction of tank sewer located close to Roman villa. No archaeological deposits or features identified. Unstratified worked flints and Iron Age and Romano-British material recovered from northern end of route. Supports earlier suggestions of flint-knapping activity and potential that archaeological remains associated with the villa may extend beyond limit of Scheduled area.
