Description

Five hand-dug test pits excavated in advance of proposed construction of new tank sewer close to Roman Villa. No structures of Roman date identified but Romano-British pottery was recovered and a buried soil and two features may date from the Roman period. A considerable amount of worked flint may imply activity in the area during the Mesolithic.
