Description

Gifford and Partners carried out an archaeological evaluation on the site of the former car park of the Southern Print Works, Lindsay Road, Poole. Four trenches (in effect two T-shaped trenches) were excavated. Trenches 1a and 1b to the east revealed part of the remains of a 19th century villa that stood on the site. Trenches 2a and 2b to the west revealed a layer of soil and tree roots, remnants of the former woodland which had been cleared in the mid 20th century. The edge of a large pit containing modern demolition material was also revealed, sealed immediately below car park deposits.
