Description

Evaluation including geophysical survey (EHGSDB Visit No: 1793) was carried out ahead of the proposed construction of an all-weather hockey pitch. Removal of topsoil by mechanical excavator revealed well preserved archaeological deposits of Romano British date comprising at least one stone-built building, cut features, occupation and demolition deposits, a stone-lined drain and infant inhumation adjacent to probable building. Pottery evidence indicates 1st or 2nd century AD date.
