Description

Two core samples were taken from trial trenches dug by AC archaeology in July 1995 on the proposed site of a new Middle School at Tatnam Farm. The precise location of the core samples has not been recorded. The cores revealed organic peats and sediments of one metre depth containing well preserved sub-fossil pollen and spores. Only one core was analysed. This revealed information on the changing vegetation and environment of the local area over a period from about 2000 years ago until the 19th century. (1) (2)
