Description

Poole Museum Service Archaeological Unit carried out a watching brief during underpinning and drainage works at The Jolly Sailor Inn in February-March 1996. This revealed part of an internal stone wall footing for the existing building, and a thick layer of dark soil with post-medieval finds overlying closely-packed oyster shells containing some post-medieval finds. This shell midden may form part of the post-medieval 'Oyster Bank'. (1)
