Description

Salvage excavation followed the metal detector find of a decorated Iron Age mirror. This proved to be part of a 1st century AD Durotrigian inhumation burial group of a woman aged c.26-45 years. The accompanying brooches, a toilet set and part of a Roman strainer suggest that the burial was made shortly after the Roman conquest. NGR given is that of Portesham Farm.
